Here’s how we get started:

  1. We can schedule a call to discuss your needs and goals

  2. I will create a personalized practice for our first session together

  3. I will print a home practice for you to bring home at your second session

Your personalized home practice can be used as a guide when you want to practice on your own which helps to increase the benefits of your yoga practice.

Some examples of the types of things we can explore are:

  • Improving range of motion & strength

  • Improving stress management

  • How you address pain & lessen pain

  • Prenatal yoga

  • Restorative yoga

  • Breath awareness

  • Increasing energy & addressing fatigue

  • Improving balance

  • Addressing various medical issues with your doctor’s approval

  • Expanding your understanding of yoga & improving technique

Working individually with me will allow you to explore even more nuance within your practice than in a group setting.

If you are hoping to

  • lessen symptoms of PTSD or complex trauma

  • improve management of your emotions

  • improve your sense of agency

  • lessen anxiety or depression

  • reset a nervous system feeling stuck in survival mode

practicing Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) with me individually will allow you to advocate for yourself freely as we are making choices with movement. There are no physical assists in this practice which will allow for less distraction as you are deciding when to bring your attention to the felt sense of your body.

Feeling stuck in survival mode can lead to ongoing anxiety, fatigue, burnout, irritability, and a lack of motivation or resilience. When our nervous system is bracing for the next stressor, it’s hard to live with joy, clarity and connection. This approach I offer will enable your nervous system to find moments to soften from the bracing, and with practice, this can begin to become more than a momentary sense of freedom, but can lead to more consistent embodiment.

The emphasis of TCTSY is not on the external form being “right or wrong” nor receiving approval from an external authority.  Rather the focus is on your internal experience.  The power in this practice resides within you, not the TCTSY facilitator.

A 2024 systematic review, beginning with 988 studies, of 7 post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) interventions found that TCTSY is one of the top two interventions for PTSD, alongside cognitive processing therapy.

TCTSY is the only scientifically validated yoga-based clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment resistant PTSD, grounded in both trauma theory and yoga philosophy.

Awaken your inner awareness when you join us for an all-levels yoga class designed to deepen your connection with your body through interoception—the ability to sense internal signals like breath, heartbeat, hunger, pain, muscle contraction and emotions. With this heightened awareness you will navigate your yoga practice as a present moment experience.

In this class, you’ll cultivate self-awareness by exploring how different areas of your body relate to one another. Integrating somatic movement allows you to coordinate these relationships and work with qualities of energy to feel your best.  By tuning in to these subtle sensations with compassion, you’ll learn to navigate yoga forms in a way that truly honors your unique body and needs.

I incorporate the Universal Principles of Alignment from Anusara Yoga with a dash of somatic movement to create a supportive and empowering foundation for your practice all through my trauma sensitive lens as a Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator.

Trauma is hard to heal.  TCTSY works!

There are times when life feels overwhelming, but there is hope. This small group yoga practice is a powerful tool for regulating your nervous system, especially if you are someone who:

  1. Struggles with managing emotions

  2. Is seeking to build resilience

  3. Has experienced PTSD, complex, or relational trauma

  4. Is dealing with anxiety or depression

  5. Is in the process of grieving a loss

By tuning into the felt sense of your body to inform choice making, this practice allows you to restore your connection to your body in a safe environment, cultivating a sense that you can change the way your body feels, which is often compromised as a result of anxiety or trauma.  There are no physical assists in this class in order to allow you to focus more easily on your inner landscape.  Props that provide extra comfort will be available for use including a chair so you’ll always have options for standing, sitting on a chair or on your mat.  Some of the choices you will have in this practice are:  being in a yoga form in stillness, adding movement, resting or journaling.  You are welcome to leave the studio space if you want to be alone as well.

The emphasis of TCTSY is not on the external form being “right or wrong” nor receiving approval from an external authority.  Rather the focus is on your internal experience.  The power in this practice resides within you, not the TCTSY facilitator.

TCTSY is the only scientifically validated yoga-based clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment resistant PTSD, grounded in both trauma theory and yoga philosophy.  Here are links to a study published in JAMA and a systematic review in case you’re interested in some of the research that supports this therapy:

Some participants in the studies of TCTSY reported experiencing benefits after just one session, while others found it took a few more sessions to notice the benefits. Data suggests that practitioners improved most significantly after engaging in at least 10 sessions.

When you register, you will have an opportunity to request any accommodation you may need.  If you feel called to calm and balance your nervous system, come join us and restore your connection with your body.
